When your device is not recognised

Try following actions when Smart Switch cannot recognise your device.

Actions
Unsupported device
Smart Switch only supports the Galaxy S3 or later devices with Android OS 4.3 (Jelly Bean) or later installed. Make sure that your device’s software is Android OS 4.3 or later.
Powered off
Smart Switch cannot recognise your device when it is turned off. Turn on your device and connect it again.
Driver not installed
Your computer cannot recognise your device when the device driver is not installed. Follow these steps:

1Disconnect your device from your computer.

2At the top of the Smart Switch window, click MORE Reinstall device driver.

3After the installation is complete, connect your device to your computer.

When your device is connected, your computer will automatically identify your device, search for a device driver from the server, and download and install it.
Faulty USB cable
Your computer may not recognise your device when a third-party USB cable is being used. Use a USB cable manufactured or approved by Samsung.
Defective USB port
Your computer may not recognise your device when the USB port is defective. Try connecting your device into a different USB port.
Temporary error
Temporary errors on your device may prevent your computer from correctly recognising your device. Follow these steps:

1Disconnect your device from your computer.

2Remove and reinsert your device’s battery.

3Turn on your device.

4Connect your device to your computer.
