Outlook Sync

Sync basics

Basic sync information

• For contacts, you can select the destination you want them to sync to, but calendars and to-do items will be synced between your device and Outlook by default.

• If you are syncing for the first time, or if you have initialized the syncing log, all data in Outlook and your device will be loaded to check for duplicate data before performing synchronisation.

• To protect your data, the Initialize syncing log dialog box will appear if 50% or more of the data in either Outlook or your device has been deleted.

Contact sync policy

• When syncing with Outlook, only the local contacts saved on your device will be synced.

• Syncing will be performed if an Outlook contact has entries in any of the following fields: name, phone number, email, or messenger.

• If you are syncing using the Selected Contacts folder option, contacts in unselected Outlook folders will not be synced with Outlook, even if they have been modified on your device.

• Unidirectional syncing copies the data from one side to the other, either from your device to Outlook or from Outlook to your device. The data on the originating side is protected.

• If your contacts contain large amount of user data, syncing may take a long time to prepare.

[Duplicate check criteria]: If a contact in Outlook and a contact on your device have the same name as well as having at least one matching field (phone number, email, and/or messenger), they are assumed to be the same person.

• If a duplicate check detects matching contacts and one or more of their fields has been modified both in Outlook and on the device, a dialog box will appear to ask for your confirmation.

• If a duplicate check detects matching contacts and one or more of their fields only contains data on one side (Outlook or your device), the matching contacts will be merged.

• When syncing all contacts, the shared folder for the Exchange Server will not be synced. To sync the shared folder, use the Selected Contacts folder option.

Calendar sync policy

• Calendar items in Lunar calendar are not supported.

• When syncing Outlook calendars, if the title, start and end times of two calendar items are the same, they will be considered as the same calendar item and merged.
